A HISTORY OF SODOMY

Beyond just sexual relations, sodomy as a crime and a way of life has defined queer culture since the advent of bible-based laws. From a variety of starting points, most states in the United States came to have such laws, and by different methods did they eventually do away with these laws; most spectacularly via the Supreme Court of the United States’s ruling in Lawrence v. Texas (2003).

Focusing on the West Coast primarily, this website will look at the convergence and distinct nature of this confluence of both sex and sexual outlaws.
